Trade Facilitation Events at the Ministerial Conference in Nairobi

The WTO's 10th Ministerial Conference will take place in Nairobi from 15 to 18 December.  It will be chaired by Kenya's Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Amina Mohamed.

The Ministerial Conference is the highest decision-making body of the WTO and it usually meets every two years. The Ministerial Conference can take decisions on all matters under any of the multilateral trade agreements.

Delivering on the TFA: the role of standards and regulatory frameworks

As countries and international and regional organizations begin to implement the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA), they are looking towards standards and holistic regulatory systems to guide their work. The panellists will present their experiences with existing standards and related tools, as well as their thoughts on how such instruments can be better used to further enhance implementation of the WTO TFA worldwide.

This high-level plenary session as part of the ICTSD Trade and Development Symposium will bring together key actors to review the prospects and challenges for deepening integration and boosting inclusive growth on the continent. Particular attention will be paid to the emerging African mega FTAs, the role of business, and the potential of the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement for boosting intra-African trade.
