This course aimed to build the capacity of committee chairs, help develop a network of contacts among chairs of national trade facilitation committees of different Members and a good working relationship with the organizations that will provide technical assistance to support their respective national committees.

The WTO funded 30 participants from 30 different countries, including 13 females and 17 males.
The programme aims overall at increasing formal small-scale cross-border trade flows in the COMESA/tripartite region, leading to higher revenue collection for governments at the borders as well as increased security and higher incomes for small-scale cross-border traders. The specific objective of the programme is to facilitate small-scale cross border trade flows between targeted countries through effective policy and government reforms, institutional capacity building, improved border infrastructure and better data collection and monitoring.

To discuss on dissemination of TRS results of the various COMESA Member States and agreeing the way forward in designing the road map to address the bottlenecks to fast clearance of goods based on the outcomes of the regional TRS.
