With a view to ensuring that trade facilitation policy is coordinated at regional level, UNCTAD offers technical assistance and advisory services to regional and sub-regional bodies to assist with developing policy frameworks and setup Regional and sub-regional Trade Facilitation Committees, that are particularly relevant to coordinate interventions in times of crisis and emergency.

The Trade Facilitation Portal s are a key tool for transparency and provides online step by step descriptions of import, export and transit procedures from the trader's point of view. For traders, it gives a detailed picture of what needs to be done to comply with national regulations. For policymakers, it helps with the identification of all unnecessary redundancies and administrative bottlenecks.

Guidelines to Customs Administrations: The ASYCUDA World (AW) system is well-equipped to assist Customs and cross-border agencies in scaling-up necessary actions to better deal with this pandemic by adopting policies and procedures to prevent, and/or limit transmission of the virus in their respective work environments, while at the same time ensuring the smooth functioning of cross border trade.
The automated support provided by AW affords Customs, cross-border agencies and traders to electronically submit and exchange data and documentation, and computerize procedures to expedite the clearance of imports, exports, transits and other trade transactions, thereby reducing to a great extent the need for face-to-face interaction.
