Canada’s Sustainable Economic Growth (SEG) Strategy focuses on building economic foundations in partner developing countries, growing business and investing in people. Building on this, its bilateral programming prioritizes aid for trade and trade facilitation. For example, the Canada-Asia Trade and Investment for Growth Program (TRIGR) is a responsive and directive technical assistance program with a global reach, designed with trade facilitation as one of its programming areas.
Canada also provides support to multilateral trade facilitation projects, with its activities outsourced through regional and international organizations for selection, management and implementation. Canada is a founding donor of the World Bank Group's Trade Facilitation Support Program (TFSP), and has also supported various initiatives such as the Aid for Trade Program delivered by the African Development Bank ( $15M); the Canada-Americas Business Environment Reform implemented by the International Finance Corporation ($11M); the WTO Standards and Trade Development Facility ( 7.5M); and many others.
