IMPLEMENTATION OF THE TRADE FACILITATION AGREEMENT

WHAT THE EXPRESS DELIVERY INDUSTRY CAN CONTRIBUTE

The four members of the Global Express Association (DHL Express, FedEx Express, TNT and UPS) support an ambitious implementation of the WTO’s Trade Facilitation Agreement, as they are convinced it can bring significant economic and development benefits that will be widely shared.

GEA members are keen to contribute to implementation efforts by making available their technical expertise in the following areas:

  • Border clearance processes and procedures

  • Small and medium size business needs and requirements

  • Automation and Information and Communication Technology

  • Regulatory impact assessment on transport and logistics operators

  • Multi-‐modal transportation and delivery operations

  • Performance metrics

  • Ability to bring customers to the implementation discussion.

GEA members cannot make direct financial contributions to implementation efforts.

GEA members support the Global Alliance for Trade Facilitation. Their resources will be channelled primarily through the Alliance. However, to the extent additional resources are available, GEA members are ready to contribute to projects in countries not covered by the Alliance, through partnerships with other donors or coalitions or donors. Such projects will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
