In support of full implementation by all WTO members, the government of China is contributing USD 1 million (CHF 1 million approx.) to aid developing and least-developed countries to implement the WTO's Trade Facilitation Agreement.

Chinese Ambassador H.E. Zhang Xiangchen said: "China’s contribution to the Trade Facilitation Agreement Facility demonstrates its strong commitment to the multilateral trading system and to helping other developing and least-developed countries benefit through implementation of the Trade Facilitation Agreement."

In response, Director-General Roberto Azevêdo commended China, stating 'China's generous donation will be essential to ensure that the poorest WTO Members can benefit fully from the WTO's Trade Facilitation Agreement and the boost to their trading potential that the Agreement can deliver. I warmly welcome China's support.'

The donation will go towards financing the capacity-building support needed by developing and least-developed countries to fully implement the agreement. TFAF does so by assessing their specific needs and matching them with partners to fund capacity-building activities. This latest donation brings China's overall contribution to WTO trust funds to CHF 4.6 million over the past 10 years.
