The Djibouti National Trade Facilitation Committee held a round table with development partners to mobilise technical assistance for the Trade Facilitation Agreement. The Minister of Budget and the Minister of Commerce and Tourism, the Director of the Djibouti Ports and Free Zone Authority and the Director of the Chamber of Commerce stressed the importance of trade facilitation for the competitiveness of the Djibouti ports and the transit corridor, as well as for the business climate in Djibouti. They presented recent reforms and planned initiatives and urged partners to support the Government's commitment to trade facilitation.

Djibouti ratified the Trade Facilitation Agreement in 2018. Its status of implementation is 2.5% as it had deferred implementation of most measures in time to build its domestic trade facilitation capacity. The NTFC, which is a multistakeholder cross-government platform, aims to accelerate the implementation by prioritising reforms on strategic areas, including accelerating clearance procedures, strengthening import controls, closing digitalisation gaps, and private sector partnership.

Development partners, EU, France, Turkey, Japan, China, the UN and the World Bank, presented their existing development partnerships and opportunities to work together to address TFA implementation gaps in Djibouti.
