TFAF approves Project Preparation Grant for Angola
Angola applied for a project preparation grant in May 2024 in relation to its capacity gaps for the implementation of Article 10.6 of the TFA, notified as a category C commitment to the Committee on Trade Facilitation. The grant was approved by TFAF on Friday 9 August 2024. The objective of the grant is to carry out an analytical study of capacity gaps in view of the transition to a new framework allowing for the optional use of customs brokers, adopted by the Government of Angola. The new framework aims to give traders more flexibility by making the use of customs brokers optional, a move designed to streamline trade processes and improve efficiency.
The PPG will be used to assess the current situation and provide recommendations for reforms and capacity building. The project will commence prior to the end of August and is scheduled for completion within six months. This initiative is part of Angola's broader efforts to enhance trade facilitation, reduce business costs, and align with its commitments under the WTO TFA.
