The project supported Belarus, Kazakhstan and Moldova in strengthening their institutional mechanisms and tools to improve coordination and implementation of trade facilitation reforms in compliance with the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement and other relevant international standards related in particular to the freedom of transit and exchange of information between customs authorities. In particular, this project contributed towards (i) the adoption in Kazakhstan of the national trade facilitation roadmap (January 2019), (ii) enhanced capacities of national stakeholders in Moldova in managing trade facilitation reforms in the area of cross-border e-commerce, (iii) raising awareness of different stakeholders in Belarus about the stage of implementation of digital tools in their respective fields, and about available solutions and best practices in the field of paperless trade and integrated single window.

The project aims to support Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Romania, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan in maximizing the transit potential of their Dry Ports, Caspian and Black Sea ports, by digitally connecting them, facilitating sustainable trade along the route, and by promoting the utilization of green energy in the port’s operations. Its overarching goal is to boost trade, reduce transportation costs and diversify supply chain from Asia to Europe through comprehensive connectivity approach based on standard harmonization, regional community building and digitalization. In the area of trade facilitation, the aim of the project is to identify main bottlenecks on the trade route from China to Europe through the Caspian Sea and the Black Sea, and to implement measures to overcome them, such as enhanced data exchange between authorities and economic operators, as well as between countries.
The project will assist Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Romania in implementing their obligations under the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement, such as data harmonization, recording and publishing average release times, cooperation between authorities, and perfecting the national single window. It will contribute to the national trade facilitation efforts of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan inter alia supporting them in the ongoing accession process to the WTO.

The project aims to contribute to Sri Lanka’s inclusive trade-led growth and regional integration
through increased trade competitiveness of Sri Lankan SMEs in regional/SAARC
and EU markets. The trade facilitation component of the project contributes strive to enhance efficiency of SMEs to comply with cross-border procedures, and is focused on four key activities: 1) strenghtening the NTFC as a platform to facilitate SMEs involvement and TFA implementation; 2) organizing public-private dialogues to complement the Single Window Blueprint; 3) embedding additional tools and functionalities to the Trade Facilitation Portal; 4) improving SMEs' capacity to comply with export management requirements.

The project aims at supporting Uzbekistan's development plans to modernize its economy through leveraging the process of WTO accession. Among other areas of intervention, the project will support to strengthen the national institutional capacity for SPS/TBT and trade facilitation compliance, in line with WTO obligations. In particular, the project will support Uzbekistan to establish a National Trade Facilitation Committee as a platform for institutional coordination and public and private sector consultation, particularly with regard to Uzbekistan's implementation of the TFA.

The project aims to promote intra-regional and international trade in Central Asia (CA) by enhancing the transparency of cross-border requirements, removing regulatory and procedural barriers, strengthening business capability to comply with trade formalities and standards, as well as by improving cross-border e-commerce. The project is structured according to four expected results:
1. Key regulatory and procedural obstacles to international trade are addressed; 2. SMEs capacities to comply with cross-border requirements (including notably quality standards, technical regulations, relevant preferential trading schemes/GSP+) are improved; 3. Improved Central Asia countries readiness, in particular women-led companies, for conducting cross-border e-commerce; 4. Increased opportunities for participation of women-led enterprises in international trade.

The project will stimulate income and employment generation resulting from improved trade support services and enhanced competitiveness of Tajik SMEs, focusing on the textile & clothing sector. On the trade facilitation side, the project is providing assistance for the establishment and operationalization of a Permanent Secretariat to the Tajikistan Trade Facilitation Committee; it is also enhancing the scope of information and functionalities available under the Tajikistan Trade Facilitation Portal.

The United Kingdom Trade Partnerships (UKTP) Programme aims to increase trade from African, Caribbean and Pacific countries (ACP) to the United Kingdom (UK) and the European Union (EU) by maximizing the benefits of Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs).

In Papua New Guinea (PNG), the UKTP Programme works in partnership with government agencies, private sector organisations, public sector institutions, SMEs and other local stakeholders to increase export of specialty coffee from SMEs in PNG to the UK and the EU to create jobs and additional income. This will be achieved by the following outputs:

- Increased awareness of EPA preferences and benefits;
- A more transparent business environment for exports;
- Improved institutional/business services to SMEs to support market access; - Increased supply capacity to export to the UK/EU market;
- Activated market opportunities.

The overall objective of this programme is to contribute to Nepal’s sustainable and inclusive economic growth and poverty reduction. The project is expected to achieve the following outputs:
1) Enhanced capacities of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies (MoICS) and the Trade and Export Promotion Center (TEPC) to formulate trade policies, negotiate trade agreements and effectively implement them; 2 ) Trade facilitation and export policies toolbox is developed;
3) Increased capacity throughout Nepal’s coffee value chain; and 4) Increased capacity throughout Nepal’s pashmina value chain. Under the trade facilitation component, the project will aim at 1) strengthen the institutional and operational set-up of the National Trade Facilitation Committee (NTFC); 2) build private sector's capacity to understand the benefits of the WTO TFA and advocate for its implementation; 3) prioritize and sequence the implementation of Category C commitments, laying out technical assistance requirements; 4) support focused implementation of specific TFA measures; and 5) enhance exporters' compliance with cross-border requirements to export from Nepal.

The project is to improve trade performance and international competitiveness of MSMEs through enhanced favorable framework condition for trade, public-private dialogue mechanisms, and a strengthened eco-system for dynamic trade promotion to achieve this long-term objective, the programme foresees to accomplish three major outcomes: 1) Exports are facilitated and documented in a National Strategy; 2) the private sector collaborates with the Government through public-private dialogues for export development; and 3) dynamic Business Support Organizations (BSOs) are enabled to deliver services to SMEs for exports and participation in global value chains.

The project aims to promote and enhance international trade competitiveness in Pakistan through three areas of intervention:
i) Pakistan National Export Strategy;
ii) Trade Policy;
iii) Trade Facilitation. Under the trade facilitation component, the project will 1) assess Pakistan’s trade facilitation performance vs. its legal obligations under the TFA and international best practices; 2) Reviving Pakistan National Trade and Transport Facilitation Committee (NTTFC); 3) establish a Trade Facilitation Portal to provide information to businesses on trade formalities; 4) support the implementation of five TFA measures, namely time release study, authorized operators, advance rulings, post-clearance audit and risk management; 5) support agencies to proceed towards an integrated risk-management scheme and to improve border agency coordination; and 6) build the capacity of SMEs to comply with cross-border requirements through trainings and coaching.

The project aims to unlock Afghanistan's trade potential by improving quality and standards- setting, strengthening export/investment promotion capacities, facilitating cross border trade including through removing regulatory and procedural barriers, supporting specific value chains and women’s participation in international business and trade. As part of the trade facilitation activities, the project will provide transparency of trade-related information through enhancing the National Trade Facilitation Portal (NTFP) established under AAT Phase I. It will continue feeding the required information on the NTFP, including new products and procedures. The project will also provide advisory services to set up the institutional framework for sustainability of the NTFP. Once the Portal is officially launched, the project will focus on reviewing trade procedures/documentation to identify simplification and optimization options in order to streamline cross border procedures and reduce their number/com-plexity.

The project aims at strengthening the participation and competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), located in secondary growth centres in Sri Lanka, in international markets. To reach this objective, the projects will: a) improve the user-friendliness and accessibility of the Sri Lanka Trade Information Portal (SLTIP) for the business community; b) provide description of export procedures of up to 10 agriculture products, with a focus on organic ones, as well as provide assistance and technical support for the simplification of export procedures in Sri Lanka related to selected products; c) strenghten representation of SMEs in the NTFC and d) optimize the automation and digitalization of the electronic certificate of origin (eCoO).

Under the ITC Trade Facilitation programme for 2021, ITC will i) operationalize a Trade Information Desk at Dan-Issa border (Niger/ Nigeria) and provide assistance to small-scale traders in complying with border formalities; ii) Enhance access to information on trade formalities in Burkina Faso through the official launch and promotion of a National Trade Facilitation Portal; iii) Pilot the newly introduced advance ruling mechanism in Niger to ensure its effectiveness; iv) develop and share recommendations towards the simplification of cross-border formalities with NTFCs in beneficiary countries; v) Develop, publish and disseminate a publication on integrated risk management; vi) develop a NTFC monitoring tool blueprint; and vii) organize a donors’ conference in selected West African beneficiary countries to present the project proposals developed by NTFC to request technical assistance for the implementation of category C measures

The programme aims overall at increasing formal small-scale cross-border trade flows in the COMESA/tripartite region, leading to higher revenue collection for governments at the borders as well as increased security and higher incomes for small-scale cross-border traders. The specific objective of the programme is to facilitate small-scale cross border trade flows between targeted countries through effective policy and government reforms, institutional capacity building, improved border infrastructure and better data collection and monitoring.

The EU-EAC MARKUP is a regional initiative focusing on increasing the participation of SMEs based in the East Africa Community (EAC) in intra-regional trade and the European market. On the trade facilitation side, the project aims at enhancing the capacity of trade support institutions (TSIs) to advocate for the removal of sectoral trade barriers in tea and coffee sectors, as well as improving access to trade facilitation and market information requirements by developing/enhancing Trade Facilitation Portals.

The project supports the implementation of trade facilitation reforms with a view to improve the country’s compliance with its obligations under the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) including through the development of implementation roadmap for Category B and C commitments, as well as contribution to the implementation of key measures of the Agreement (I.e. Advance Ruling, Information Available Through Internet, etc.). The project enhance the competitiveness of the business community through capacity building for improved participation in trade facilitation reforms formulation and the reduction of time and cost of cross-border formalities by identifying existing barriers to trade, as well as developing action plans for facilitating export procedures and reducing trade costs.
