The TFAF is supporting Comoros to make a diagnostic analysis of implementation of the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) and technical assistance needs. The Comoros Mission in Geneva requested the support from TFAF in the context of its post-acession work programme. The objective is to assist the Comoros meeting its TFA notification deadline of 21 February 2025. The activity is coordinated with the EIF Secretariat and the WTO Accession Team. Comoros joined the WTO on 21 August and ratified the TFA on that date. Comoros' deadline to notify TFA Categorisations, including definitive dates for implementation is February 21 2024.

As part of the support, a government expert is travelling to Comoros to carry out the analysis from 13 to 31 January 2025. The expert will meet with colleagues from agencies and ministries represented at the borders and private sector representatives to understand their implementation progress and remaining challenges. A validation session will be held with all stakeholders on 30 and 31 January in Moroni, Comoros to discuss the findings and finalise the notification information including definitive dates for implementation which must be communicated to the WTO Committee on Trade Facilitation. A member of the Facility team will travel to co-host the validation session alongside the government expert. TFAF support will continue after this work to support Comoros to define a techincal assistance mobililsation strategy and to engage with potential partners.
